The US Embassy in Dhaka has said birth tourism is not permitted on a US visitor visa.
"Using your visa to travel for the primary purpose of giving birth in the United States so that your child will have US citizenship is not permitted," reads a post on the embassy's verified X page this morning (30 May).
It said, "Consular officers will deny your visa application if they have reason to believe this is your intent."
