Standard Bank holds virtual EGM

The Standard Bank Limited has recently held its 28th extraordinary general meeting (EGM) through a virtual platform. 

The bank conducted the EGM virtually to maintain the social distancing during the Covid-19 pandemic, said a media statement.

The bank's Chairman Kazi Akram Uddin Ahmed presided over the meeting.

Among others, the bank's Vice Chairman Md Zahedul Hoque, Directors Kamal Mostafa Chowdhury, Ashok Kumar Saha, Ferozur Rahman, Md MonzurAlam, SAM Hossain, Alhaj Mohammed Shamsul Alam, Mohammed Abdul Aziz, Ferdous Ali Khan, Alhaj Mohd Yousuf Chowdhury, Kazi Khurram Ahmed, Md Abul Hossain, Najmul Huq Chaudhury and Md Nazmus Salehin, joined the meeting.

Besides, the bank's Managing Director and CEO Khondoker Rashed Maqsood, Additional Managing Director Md Tariqul Azam, Deputy Managing Director Md Motaleb Hossain, also joined the EGM.

In the meeting, the bank's Chairman Akram Uddin Ahmed recounted the long-cherished dream of its board of directors to convert the bank from conventional to a modern Islamic Shariah-based one. 

He expressed his profound gratitude to the almighty Allah while stating that the regulatory bodies concerned had given their nod in this connection.

He concluded his speech by thanking all shareholders present in the meeting for their unflinching support towards the formation of a modern Islamic Shariah-based bank in the country.

Khondoker Rashed Maqsood, Managing Director of the bank also gave his welcome speech to the shareholders on the mission to convert the bank into a modern Islamic Shariah-based one.
