Coast Guard provides free medical services to over 400 people in Patuakhali

Bangladesh Coast Guard Base Agragatra organised a free medical camp titled "Tarunner Utsab 2025" at the Itbaria Union under Patuakhali Sadar Upazila on Thursday. The camp, held from 10:00am to 3:00pm, provided medical consultations and essential medicines to over 400 underprivileged individuals, including children and members of low-income communities.

The information was confirmed by Coast Guard media officer Lieutenant Commander Harun-ar-Rashid on Thursday afternoon.

He said that since its inception, the Bangladesh Coast Guard has been committed to supporting marginalised communities in coastal and riverine areas. The organisation routinely provides free medical services through health camps for the poor and disadvantaged.

Thursday's camp was led by Medical Officer Surgeon Lieutenant Sarah Haque, AMC, and focused on delivering basic healthcare support to vulnerable populations in the region.

In addition to medical services, the Coast Guard also conducted a public awareness session for local fishermen and residents. The discussion addressed critical issues such as illegal fishing practices, drug and human trafficking prevention, the use of banned fishing nets, protection of forest resources, and safety of lives and property on waterways.

Representatives from the local administration, forest department, public representatives, and community members were present at the awareness session.
