The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) in 2014 filed a case against former housing and public works minister Mirza Abbas for his alleged involvement in misappropriation of Tk15.52 crore in allocating Rajuk plots for the journalists.

The then ACC Deputy Director (DD) Hamidul Hassan after completing his investigation on 11 February 2015 submitted a charge sheet against five persons including Mirza Abbas.

Later, the Special Judge Court-4 framed charges against Mirza Abbas and others on 20 October 2017.

Meanwhile, on 8 December 2016, Mirza Abbas filed a criminal revision suit with the High Court for scrapping the case filed against him.

The court on 14 December 2016 stayed the case for three months and issued a rule in this regard.

But, the High Court on 13 May 2019 dismissed the rule. As a result, Mirza Abbas moved an appeal before the Supreme Court against the High Court judgment.
