Govt to procure 1 cargo LNG, 70,000 tonnes fertiliser

The government today (20 May) approved separate proposals for procuring one cargo LNG and 70,000 tonnes of fertiliser to meet the country's growing demand.
The approvals came from the 20th meeting of the Advisers Council Committee on Government Purchase this year held at Bangladesh Secretariat with Finance Adviser Salehuddin Ahmed in the chair.
Following a proposal from the Energy and Mineral Resources Division, Petrobangla would procure one cargo LNG from the spot market following international quotation method from M/S Gunvor Singapore Pte Limited Singapore with around Tk586.46 crore.

Following a proposal from the Ministry of Agriculture, the Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation (BADC) would procure 40,000 tonnes of DAP fertiliser under the 12th lot under state-level agreement with OCP NUTRICROPS, Morocco with around Tk324.52 crore where per tonne fertiliser would cost $665.
In another proposal, the Bangladesh Chemical Industries Corporation (BCIC) under the Ministry of Industries would procure 30,000 tonnes of bagged granular urea fertiliser from KAFCO, Bangladesh under the 16th lot for the current fiscal year with around Tk152.71 crore with per tonne fertiliser costing $417.25.
The day's purchase committee meeting also approved separate proposals from the Ministry of Railways, Road Transport and Highways Division, Ministry of Housing and Public Works, and the Armed Forces Division.
