Tom Cruise hints at new 'Top Gun: Maverick' and 'Days of Thunder' sequels

As the 'Mission: Impossible' series nears its conclusion, Tom Cruise is gearing up for his next wave of blockbuster projects.
In a recent interview with Today Show Australia, Cruise revealed that he is actively discussing potential sequels for 'Top Gun: Maverick' and the 1990 racing classic 'Days of Thunder'.
Cruise shared that he and his team are exploring ideas for both films, saying, "We're thinking and talking about many different stories." He continues, "It took me 35 years to figure out 'Top Gun: Maverick', so all of these things we're working on, we're discussing 'Days of Thunder' and 'Top Gun: Maverick.'"
Released in 2022, 'Top Gun: Maverick' became a global sensation, grossing $1.49 billion worldwide. Meanwhile, 'Days of Thunder' earned $157 million. Talks for a sequel to the racing thriller first emerged in late 2024.
Cruise also confirmed he recently wrapped filming an untitled project with Alejandro González Iñárritu, alongside a star-studded cast including Sandra Hüller and John Goodman, with shooting completed in the UK.
