Khondaker A Mamun, PhD., Professor of Artificial Intelligence (AI) at the Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), United International University (UIU); Founder, Advanced Intelligent Multidisciplinary System Lab (AIMS Lab), UIU and Institute of Research, Innovation, Incubation and Commercialisation (IRIIC), UIU, the first of its kind research-to-commercialisation institute in Bangladesh, has been a driving force behind transformative technology-based solutions in Bangladesh with over 20+ years of contributions to research, innovation, and entrepreneurship.

With a vision to establish equitable, accessible, affordable quality healthcare for all towards achieving Universal Health Coverage (UHC), Prof. Mamun founded CMED Health, a pioneering research-to-commercialise AI for health initiative transforming the healthcare landscape in Bangladesh and has the potential to scale it in other low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). Through Intelligent General Practitioner (iGP), an AI-powered, patient-centred, Community Health Workers-driven model designed to deliver healthcare at doorsteps in the community, CMED has impacted 4+ million lives through the creation of digital health accounts and providing patient-centred, comprehensive preventive and primary healthcare to alleviate poverty by reducing Out-of-Pocket Health Expenditure, transforming healthcare access and quality for the 7 billion people living in these regions.

Beyond institutional leadership, Professor Mamun is internationally recognised for his pioneering research in Brain–Computer Interfaces, assistive technologies for persons with disabilities, and adaptive educational tools that personalise learning experiences. His innovations have enhanced digital inclusion and accessibility across multiple sectors. On the policy front, Professor Mamun has served as a key advisor to the Government of Bangladesh, providing strategic guidance on national AI strategy, digital health frameworks, disability policy, and inclusive education. His thought leadership continues to shape a forward-looking ICT agenda that supports Bangladesh's ambitions within the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
