Southern University celebrates first-ever Communication Day

Southern University Bangladesh celebrated its inaugural "Communication Day 2025" on Thursday at the Baizid Arefin Nagar campus, under the slogan "Together We Achieve More."

The Department of Business Administration organised the event to transform academic learning into real-world experience.

Acting Vice-Chancellor Dr Sharif Ashrafuzzaman inaugurated the event as the chief guest, while Professor Sarwar Jahan, a founding university entrepreneur, attended as the special guest. Also present were Registrar AFM Modasser Ali, Head of the Department Dr Sirajul Islam, and other faculty members, as stated in a press release.

The event, supervised by Assistant Professors Mohammad Hasan and Tasnim Islam, was part of the Business Communication course and aimed to enhance students' professional communication skills. Around 60 students from the 76th batch, divided into eight teams, participated in various competitions.

Through their stalls and presentations, students showcased practical applications of verbal and written communication, email writing, meeting facilitation, public speaking, body language, and communication networking.

Participants were awarded certificates and crests to recognise their outstanding presentations. Professor Dr Saleh Zahur and Professor Engineer Dr Mozammel Haque graced the prize-giving ceremony.

Participants reported that the event enhanced their confidence, teamwork, and communication skills.
