A Dhaka court today (14 May) appointed a receiver to manage 14 flats in Uttara of former member of parliament (MP) Ashim Kumar Ukil.

The court also ordered to attach five shops in city's Basundhara Shopping Mall, owned by Ashim's wife, Awami League leader Apu Ukil and appoint receiver to administer those properties.

Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Zakir Hossain Galib passed the order, allowing a petition of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

The anti-graft body in its petition said a court on 15 October 2024, ordered the attachment of properties including a Dhanmandi flat of Ashim Kumar Ukil and Apu Ukil.

"They have 14 flats in Uttara sector-10, five shops in Basundhara Shopping Mall and a receiver should be appointed to protect and manage these properties," it added.
