‘Trump’s visit will be historic if it means the beginning of the end to the Gaza war’

Trump’s visit to the Middle East carries great expectations, especially at the political level, with its current and future dimensions

The visit, which President Trump described as historic, to Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the UAE has begun with the possibility of adding Turkey and possibly Israel.

The media coverage that preceded the visit since the announcement of its conduct was the most intense of all the most important events in the region and the world.

It is obvious that this situation will increase expectations around the outcomes, especially since the region is going through an unprecedented situation in its contemporary history through ignitions, some of which, if calm down, others are still continuing and escalating.

America is a direct party to all ignitions, so although it plays the role of mediator in the Gaza war, it is a decision-made party in the issue of solutions by virtue of its influence over Israel first, and relations with the rest of the Middle East countries.

The visit carries great expectations, especially at the political level, with its current and future dimensions.

The current is the extinguishment of the burning fires, its main focus is Gaza, and its main tool is Israel. In this regard, the expectations of ending the war on Gaza according to the American determinants and conditions, seem logical by virtue of its introductions, and President Trump's hints on it, and what his envoy Witkoff is doing confirms this, as does the prevailing differences with the Israeli government led by Benjamin Netanyahu.

As for what falls under the title of the future, it is to move a political path that leads to solutions that may be of a regional nature to the Middle East conflicts, and the Palestinian issue is of course at its core.

Riyadh is exercising continuous work in this direction. Though it is not known to us exactly the extent of American cooperation with it in this matter, what is known and important is the joint leadership between Saudi Arabia and France of an international effort whose direct concern is the Palestinian state.

Saudi Arabia and France seek to transfer recognition through the two-state solution to work seriously for its establishment. This needs American cooperation that complements the international rally in order to gain more effectiveness for success.

The conclusions—about which the preconceived expectations have increased—will be decided in this visit, if not with final decisions, but with serious introductions.

For the people of the Middle East, the visit will be really historic if it means the beginning of the end to the war in Gaza, and if it leads to the rest of the fronts to calm down, when Trump fulfills his promise to end the wars in the world and what concerns us in the Middle East first.

It is long-away from a solution to the Palestinian cause, but it is a solution nevertheless that satisfies Palestinians, Arabs and the world.
