ICT extends probe report deadline by 3 months in Shapla Chattar case against Hasina, others
The tribunal has now fixed 12 August as the new deadline for its investigation agency to submit findings
The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) has granted a three-month extension for submitting the investigation report in a case filed over allegations of crimes against humanity during the 2013 Shapla Chattar crackdown against Hefazat-e-Islam leaders and activists.
According to Prothom Alo, the tribunal has now fixed 12 August as the new deadline for the investigation agency to submit its findings.
The order was passed on today (12 May) by a two-member bench led by ICT Chairman Justice Md Golam Mortuza Mazumder. The other member of the bench is Justice Md Mohitul Haque Enayetur Chowdhury.

The case accuses nine individuals, including ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina, of orchestrating killings, torture, and other grave offences across the country — particularly in Dhaka's Motijheel area on 5-6 May 2013.
Of the nine, four are currently in custody while the remaining five, including Hasina, are absconding.
The absconding accused also include former home minister Mohiuddin Khan Alamgir, Gonojagoron Mancha spokesperson Imran H Sarker, and two former inspectors general of police (IGPs) Hassan Mahmood Khandker and Benazir Ahmed.
The four individuals shown arrested in this case today were already in custody in connection with other cases. They are former state minister for home affairs Shamsul Hoque Tuku, former IGP AKM Shahidul Hoque, Maj Gen (retd) Ziaul Ahsan, and former DIG of police Mollah Nazrul Islam.
The tribunal directed that the four be shown arrested in this case and ordered their continued jail time.
