DU forms fact-finding committee on allegations of student repression during July uprising

In response to long-standing demands from students and teachers, the vice-chancellor of Dhaka University has formed a fact-finding committee to investigate allegations of repression against students during the period of the Awami League government, particularly concerning those involved with the July uprising.

The committee will specifically look into accusations that certain faculty members and administrative officials of the university went against students and aided in acts of repression during these movements. The aim is to identify those responsible and recommend appropriate actions.

As per the committee's decision, all individuals — especially those affected — who wish to provide detailed evidence or statements regarding the involvement of specific university personnel in the suppression of student movements, are encouraged to come forward.

Those willing to submit such information are requested to send their names, addresses, and relevant materials to the Registrar of Dhaka University, who is the member secretary of the Fact-Finding Committee at the Administrative Building, or email at the address: registrar@du.ac.bd, or call at 01817579778 by 22 May 2025.

The committee has assured that the identities of all informants will be kept strictly confidential.
