The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) today (7 May) ordered re-interrogation of three former senior police officers including ex-inspector general of police (IGP) AKM Shahidul Haque in connection with murder of nine youths by staging a 'drama' of an overnight anti-militant drive at a house named 'Jahajbari' in Dhaka's Kallayanpur area in 2016.

The tribunal headed by its Chairman Justice Golam Mortuza Mozumder passed the order upon a petition of prosecution and fixed 14 July for submitting the investigation report on the murder case.

Two other former police officials are former Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) commissioner Asaduzzaman Mia and ex-deputy commissioner of Mirpur division Jasimuddin Molla.

Following the court order, the investigation team of the ICT will interrogate them separately on 25, 27 and 29 May for the second time.

Prosecutor Gazi HM Tamim who moved the petition at the tribunal said they have sought re-interrogation of the three former police officers for cross-check on some information they have provided earlier.

The tribunal ordered to show the trio arrested in the case on 24 March as the prosecution informed it that the killing of nine youths at Jahajbari was committed at the directives and plan of the three police officials.

The youths were arrested from different parts of the country. Later they were tagged as militants and killed at Jahajbari on 26 June 2016 to infuse fear in the minds of Islamic-minded people.
