Slot hails Premier League title as one of the best days of his life

Liverpool manager Arne Slot described winning the Premier League at Anfield as "one of the best days" of his life, reflecting on a historic title win while turning his focus towards the challenges of next season.

The Dutchman's side stormed to a record-extending 20th English league title with a resounding 5-1 victory over Tottenham on sunday, clinching the crown with four matches remaining. The celebrations at Anfield were described by Slot as unforgettable.

"Maybe for all the Liverpool fans, but for many of them, one of the best days of their lives — and I think it was the same for me," said Slot. "The way the whole day went, arriving at the stadium, how intense the fans already were… then going 1-0 behind, it felt like, 'Oh, they're not going to give it to us, we have to work for it.' Scoring the goals and seeing what it meant to the players and supporters was really special."

Liverpool's remaining fixtures include clashes against Chelsea on sunday, followed by games against Arsenal, Brighton and Crystal Palace — all sides in the Premier League's top half.

"It's nice that we play strong teams," said Slot. "It gives us an immediate challenge. It's the end of the season but also the beginning of next season in a way."

Slot admitted he was surprised to see a 22-point gap between his team and fifth-placed Chelsea, especially given the Blues' strong performance during their previous encounter in october, which Liverpool narrowly won 2-1.

"We found a way to win, and that's a quality we didn't need too often, because mostly we were the better team," said the 46-year-old. "But in that game, we had to suffer — maybe more than in any other match. So to be so many points ahead is a big compliment to everyone at the club."

With the title secured, Slot confirmed that he plans to rotate the squad over the remaining matches.

"Some of them deserve to play already this season because they've trained so well," he explained. "They're good enough to play for this club. I mainly chose the same players this season, but this is also a moment to see where others are, with next season in mind. But definitely also because they deserve to play now."

Slot also acknowledged that the club's success will help attract new talent during the summer.

"Winning the league, with these fans, this club — it's a huge attraction for any player we want to bring in. That's definitely helpful."
