Hridoy banned again, to miss crucial match against Abahani

Towhid Hridoy's unfortunate run continues as he faces another ban, ruling him out of the Premier League title-deciding clash against Abahani. This latest suspension is not the same one that was postponed earlier; instead, it is a new ban for the national team cricketer.

Hridoy, who had been under scrutiny for his on-field behaviour, had already expressed dissatisfaction with the umpire's decision. When summoned for a hearing, he failed to respond, leaving match officials with no choice but to impose the ban. As a result, he now faces another demerit point, which has led to his suspension. Along with the suspension, Hridoy has been fined 10,000 taka. This latest penalty brings his total demerit points to eight, which results in a four-match ban.

In the match against Gazi Group, Hridoy's frustration was evident after he was dismissed. His visible outburst was deemed disrespectful to the match officials, which led to the disciplinary action. According to the Bangladesh Cricket Board's (BCB) Code of Conduct, expressing frustration with an umpire's decision, refusing to leave the wicket, or shaking one's head in disapproval all breach the rules, and Hridoy did all of these.

As a consequence, Hridoy will not feature in the title-deciding match against Abahani. Despite this setback, Mohammadan managed to secure a hard-fought victory over Gazi Group on the day of Hridoy's suspension. If Mohammadan wins against Abahani, they will be crowned champions. However, even if both teams are tied on points, Mohammadan will win the title due to their superior head-to-head record. If Mohammadan loses, Abahani will lift the trophy with a 4-point advantage.
