Shakib Khan’s Borbaad breaks ground as first Bangladeshi film in IMDb’s top 100

Shakib Khan's Eid blockbuster Borbaad continues to capture the spotlight in the Bangladeshi film scene, now making headlines on the global stage by securing a position on the prestigious Internet Movie Database (IMDb) ranking of the world's 100 most popular films.
Seventeen days after its theatrical release, Borbaad—directed by Mehedi Hasan Hridoy—currently holds the 44th position on IMDb's popularity chart. Sharing space with major international titles such as A Minecraft Movie, Snow White, Anora, Superman, Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning, and Captain America: Brave New World, the film has earned an IMDb rating of 7.4.
Director Mehedi Hasan Hridoy expressed his excitement, saying, "Our film has secured the 44th spot in IMDb's popular movies category—this is a moment of immense joy and pride for us. Bangladeshi films are now being released internationally and gaining global recognition. This indicates that our cinema is reaching the international stage. It's a huge milestone for the industry and a source of pride for all of us."

Released during Eid across theatres in Bangladesh, Borbaad has been playing to packed houses, energising audiences and drawing acclaim. Riding on its domestic success, the film is set to expand its reach globally.
According to the production company Real Energy, Borbaad will be released in the United States on 18 April and in Canada on 19 April. The global tour continues with releases in Australia and New Zealand on 26 April, followed by screenings in Italy and Malaysia later this month.
