Mysterious explosion in Gazipur leaves husband, wife, and child injured

Three members of a family, including a husband, wife, and their child, sustained burn injuries in a mysterious explosion in the Degerchala area under Gacha police station in Gazipur city early this morning (15 April).
The incident occurred around 6:30am when locals heard a loud blast and rushed to find the family members badly injured. They were immediately taken to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital burn unit where they are currently receiving treatment.
The victims have been identified as Md Harij, his wife Ayesha Khatun, and their son Maidul.
Confirming the matter to The Business Standard, Officer-in-Charge of Gacha Police Station Ali Mohammad Rashed said, "We are still trying to determine the cause of the explosion."
No specific complaints have been filed yet and legal action will be taken if any complaint is received, he added.
According to police and local residents, the family was living in a rented house in the Degerchala area. The explosion occurred while they were sleeping. The blast shattered the doors and windows of the room and partially burned a mosquito net and a child's school bag. However, no gas cylinder was present in the room, and the electrical connections were intact.
Sub-Inspector of Gacha Police Station Md Kamrul, who visited the site, told reporters, "Three people have been injured and are undergoing treatment at the burn unit in Dhaka. The cause of the explosion remains unknown. The TV, fridge, and electric lines in the room are in good condition, and there were no gas lines or cylinders found."
"We hope to learn the actual cause once we are able to speak with the injured," he added.
