Police have already taken all-encompassing security measures in the capital city and elsewhere across the country as the people can celebrate the Pahela Baishakh, the first day of the Bangla New Year-1432 in a festive and peaceful manner tomorrow.

"We have already taken an all-encompassing measure to ensure foolproof security across the country to guarantee a peaceful and joyous celebration of the Pahela Baishakh," Assistant Inspector General (AIG) of media at the Police Headquarters Enamul Haque Sagor told BSS today (13 April).

He said the law enforcers have taken security measures giving equal importance to every place.

But, special focus has been given on the major cities such as Dhaka, Chattogram, Rajshahi, Khulna, Sylhet and Barishal.

Asked about any security threats over celebration of the Pahela Baishakh, he said, "There is no security threat. But, we are well aware."

Sagor, also spokesperson of the Bangladesh Police said that adequate numbers of law enforcement agencies in uniforms and plainclothes have already been deployed in Dhaka and elsewhere across the country to pursue a peaceful celebration of the Pahela Baishakh.

Necessary instructions have already been given to every unit of Bangladesh police in this connection, he said.

Intelligence surveillances have been intensified across the country especially in the large cities.

The 'Ananda Shovajatra', the main attraction of the Pahela Baishakh celebration, has been given utmost priority in formulating the security plan, he said.

The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) today issued two separate guidelines for traffic management and arranging Ananda Shovajatra in a disciplined and smooth way.
