A young man was shot dead and three others injured in an attack by unidentified gunmen this morning (10 April) in the Lemua area of Duijjakhali under Sarafbhata Union in Rangunia upazila of Chattogram.

The deceased has been identified as Awaimong Marma, 32, a resident of Barkholapara in the same union. The injured—Mongye Marma, 35, Lasathui Marma, 23, and Usaimong Marma, 17—are all from Rangunia upazila, according to police.

Police said the four were guarding their lemon orchard when a group of unidentified assailants suddenly opened fire on them. All four sustained bullet injuries in the attack.

Locals rushed to the scene and took the victims to Rangunia Upazila Health Complex, where doctors declared Awaimong Marma dead on arrival. The three injured men were later referred to Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH) for advanced treatment.

ATM Shifatul Mazdar, officer-in-charge of South Rangunia Police Station, confirmed the incident, stating, "I am at the scene. One has died, and three others have been injured. Further details will be shared after the investigation."

Nurul Alam Ashiq, sub-Inspector and in-charge of the CMCH police outpost, said, "Three injured youths from Rangunia were brought to the hospital this morning. They received initial treatment and have been admitted to Ward No. 2."

Police are continuing their investigation to identify and apprehend the attackers.
