Two more parties submit reform opinions to Consensus Commission

Two more political parties on Wednesday (9 April) submitted their respective opinions on reform proposals to the National Consensus Commission.
The two parties are Gono Odhikar Parishad headed by Nurul Haque Nur and Bikalpa Dhara Bangladesh led by Dr Nurul Amin Bepari.
A Bikalpa Dhara delegation led by its secretary general Shah Ahmed Badal submitted its opinions to the National Consensus Commission's Vice-Chairman Prof Ali Riaz at the Jatiya Sangsad Complex.
Later, Gono Odhikar Parishad submitted its opinion over the reform proposals.
With the two parties, a total of 31 political parties submitted their respective proposals to the Consensus Commission.
Bedsides, the Commission held talks with six political parties as part of the first round of dialogues started on 20 March last.
The Consensus Commission, spearheaded by Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus, started its work on 15 February 2025.
The commission identified the crucial recommendations made in the reports of five reform commissions – the constitution reform commission, the public administration reform commission, the electoral system reform commission, the judiciary reform commission and the ACC reform commission – to seek opinions from the political parties.
Later, the commission sent a set of recommendations in a spreadsheet format to 38 political parties asking them to send their specific opinions on the important reform recommendations by 13 March.
The Consensus Commission started its dialogues with political parties on 20 March last and it has a plan to complete the first round of talks by the first week of May.
