Bangladesh Navy has recovered stolen goods worth approximately Tk1 crore from the Matarbari Power Plant Project during a raid in Maheshkhali's Rajghat South Para area.
As part of its regular operations to ensure national security and curb drug trafficking, terrorism and criminal activities, the Navy conducted the drive on Tuesday (Apr 8) evening, based on secret information, according to a press release from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on today (9 April).
During the operation, the naval contingent searched a house in the area and recovered a large quantity of goods, reportedly stolen at different times from the under-construction power plant in Matarbari, it said.

The Matarbari Power Plant Project is a significant national installation located in the Maheshkhali upazila of Cox's Bazar. Following repeated allegations of theft of construction materials from the project, the Maheshkhali naval contingent launched the special operation.
The seized items—recovered from a locked room—include construction materials such as angle bars, beam bars and scrap metal. The estimated market value of the recovered goods is around Tk 1 crore, according to the Navy, the release said.
The process of handing over the recovered items to the appropriate authorities is underway in the presence of local police, it added.
The Navy said regular operations will continue in its designated areas to maintain law and order and ensure security in Matarbari and across the country.
