ICT orders completing probe into Abu Sayed killing within 2 months
The International Crimes Tribunal has ordered that the investigation into the killing of Abu Sayed, a student at Begum Rokeya University in Rangpur, be completed within two months. Sayed was killed during the mass uprising against discrimination.
The order was issued today (9 April) by a tribunal bench headed by Justice Md Golam Mortuza Mojumdar, chairman of the ICT.
Four accused individuals — former sub-inspector Amir Hossain, constable Sujon Chandra Roy, Begum Rokeya University proctor Shariful Islam, and Chhatra League leader Imran Chowdhury Akash — were produced before the tribunal.

Earlier on 2 March, the tribunal had directed authorities to present the four individuals in connection with the case and also instructed that the investigation report be submitted by 9 April.
However, the investigation agency failed to meet the deadline and requested an additional two months, which was granted by the tribunal today.
Abu Sayed was shot dead by police in Rangpur during the protests of the anti-discrimination student movement on 16 July. The prosecution informed the tribunal that former SI Amir Hossain and constable Sujon Chandra Roy were directly involved in the killing, while university proctor Shariful Islam and Chhatra League activist Imran Chowdhury Akash were among those who incited the incident.
They are currently shown arrested in other cases. The prosecution requested that they be officially shown as arrested in this particular case.
