ACC initiates inquiry into Shakib Al Hasan over corruption allegations
ACC Chairman Mohammad Abdul Momen confirmed the development today during a media briefing on contemporary issues

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has launched an inquiry into allegations of corruption against cricketer and former Awami League MP Shakib Al Hasan.
ACC Chairman Mohammad Abdul Momen confirmed the development today (6 April) during a media briefing on contemporary issues.
During the briefing, journalists pointed out that Shakib had previously worked in promotional campaigns for the ACC.
In response, the chairman said, "We fear that such a thing might happen; that Shakib Al Hasan might also be an accused of the ACC."
When asked about the basis for such concerns, he stated, "It is in our inquiry stage. It will be understood after the inquiry."
Shakib signed a contract with the ACC as a brand ambassador in 2018. He also participated in the launch of the ACC's hotline 106.
However, following allegations of irregularities, the ACC announced in 2022 that Shakib would no longer serve as its brand ambassador.
