Police have recovered the bodies of a man, his wife, and their child from a house in Gobindabari Dewanpara under Kashimpur police station in Gazipur.

Law enforcement suspects that the man strangled his wife and daughter before taking his own life by hanging.

The bodies were discovered this morning (23 March) and later sent to Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College morgue for autopsy.

The deceased have been identified as Nazmul Islam, 29, his wife Khadija Akter, 22, and their four-year-old daughter Nadia Akter.

Officer-in-Charge of Kashimpur Police Station, Md Moniruzzaman, said, "The bodies of the husband, wife, and child have been recovered and sent for autopsy. Initial findings suggest that the husband strangled his wife and daughter before hanging himself. However, the exact cause will be confirmed after the post-mortem report. Legal proceedings are underway."

According to police and locals, Nazmul did not have a job and lived in a house provided by his father-in-law. On Saturday night (22 March), he, his wife, and their child went to bed as usual, locking the room from the inside.

This morning, as they did not wake up, Khadija's father knocked on the door but received no response. He then went to the back of the house and looked through the window, where he saw Nazmul hanging from the ceiling.

Upon breaking the door with the help of others, he found his daughter and granddaughter lying lifeless.

Police were then informed, and officers arrived at around 10am to recover the bodies.

Sources further stated that Nazmul and Khadija had been experiencing ongoing marital disputes, frequently arguing over various issues.
