A father has alleged that his 12-year-old daughter was raped with the assistance of her mother in Jhenaidah's Shailkupa upazila.

Shailkupa Police Station Officer-in-Charge Masum Khan today (18 March) confirmed that the victim's father had filed a complaint in this regard on Saturday (15 March).

"The matter seems a bit complicated. Nevertheless, the police have accepted the complaint. Legal action will be taken if the truth is found," he said.

According to the complaint, the victim's father, a scrap dealer, is often absent from home due to his work. It is alleged that his wife exploited this situation by sending their daughter, against her will, to the main accused, Shariful Islam Sharif, and another accused, Sannyasi Mondal, separately.

The complaint states that on 7 March, Sharif raped the child after tempting his wife with money. Similarly, on 8 March, Mondal allegedly raped the child for a second time.

It is further alleged that Parvin acted as a guard outside the house during these incidents.

On 12 March, the child informed her father of the alleged assaults, leading to an argument with Parvin, who subsequently left the house. Her current location is unknown.

Amit Barman, assistant superintendent of police of Shailkupa Circle, confirmed that a complaint had been received and that the second officer of the police station had been dispatched to investigate.

Awlad Hossain, chairman of Fulhari union, stated, "Sharif used to be in my social group at one time and was my bodyguard. He was in the Awami League till 5 August. I hear he is now in Bangladesh Jatiotabadi Matsyajeebi Dal."

He also stated that he had heard allegations of rape, but could not confirm their veracity.
