High Court rules on why EC's public notice on new party registration is not illegal
The High Court has suspended the validity of the public notice issued by the Election Commission (EC) for the registration of a new political party. At the same time, the High Court has issued a rule asking why this public notice should not be declared illegal. The High Court headed by Justice Akram Hossain Chowdhury gave this order on March 18. Hasnat Qayyum, the chief coordinator of the State Reform Movement and Supreme Court lawyer, filed a writ in this regard in the relevant branch of the High Court on March 17. The Chief Election Commissioner, the Secretary of the Election Commission, and the Electoral Reform Commission have been made respondents in the writ.
