Carpenter held for alleged rape attempt of 6-year-old in Munshiganj

Police have detained a carpenter over an alleged attempt to rape a six-year-old girl in Gazaria upazila of Munshiganj.
The accused, Yasin, 45, was detained from his village home in Porachak Bausia Purbo Nayakandi village of Bausia union last night (17 March).
"The accused Yasin was detained from his home. We are investigating the matter. The situation is now calm," said Gazaria Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md Anwar Alam Azad.

According to locals, the child went to a nearby shop around 7:30pm when Yasin, who was present there, allegedly grabbed her on her way home and attempted to molest her in a secluded area.
Hearing her screams, locals rushed to the spot, forcing him to flee.
As news of the incident spread, angry locals gathered, demanding punishment.
Police intervened and later arrested Yasin from his home around 11:30pm.
