Over 150 street children receive eid gifts from UNYSAB at RU

To spread the joy of Eid, the United Nations Youth and Student Association of Bangladesh (UNYSAB), Rajshahi Division, distributed new clothes and gift items to over 150 underprivileged street children.

The event took place at Rajshahi University's Shaheed Sukhranjan Samaddar Student-Teacher Cultural Centre (TSCC). Pro Vice-Chancellors Professor Mohammad Main Uddin and Professor Md Farid Uddin Khan handed over the new clothes to the children.

UNYSAB members organise this initiative annually, collecting funds from university dormitories and well-wishers to provide Eid gifts for underprivileged children. They gathered children from various areas of Rajshahi city and distributed new clothes and gifts.

Expressing excitement, a young child said, "I feel really happy to get new clothes. The dress is very beautiful!"

A mother from Vadra, who came to collect clothes for her two-year-old, said, "Many parents like us cannot afford to buy clothes for our children during Eid. I have four children—sometimes we can afford clothes for two, but not for the others. We are grateful to this organisation for arranging such an event. My children will celebrate Eid wearing these clothes."

Speaking at the event, Pro Vice-Chancellor (Administration) Professor Mohammad Main Uddin said, "We appreciate such initiatives. Distributing new clothes to underprivileged children and spreading Eid joy is truly commendable. The university administration will always support such efforts."

Md Shihab Mia, regional secretary of UNYSAB Rajshahi Division, said, "Every year, UNYSAB aims to bring smiles to the faces of underprivileged children. This year, we have again distributed new clothes and food to children in the Rajshahi region. We thank everyone who contributed to making this programme a success."

Among those present were UNYSAB advisor and Management Department faculty member Dr Md Zohurul Anis, Director of the Office of International Affairs Professor Muhammad Sajjadur Rahim, UNYSAB lifetime member Rashedul Islam Sajib, along with alumni, committee members, over 150 street children, and their guardians.

UNYSAB Rajshahi Division, one of the country's largest volunteer organisations, has been working since 2014 to develop young people's skills.
