The United States is prepared to invest billions of dollars in creating new jobs in Greenland and enhancing its well-being, US President Donald Trump stated on his Truth Social page.

"As I made clear during my Joint Address to Congress, the United States strongly supports the people of Greenland's right to determine their own future. We will continue to KEEP YOU SAFE, as we have since World War II. We are ready to INVEST BILLIONS OF DOLLARS to create new jobs and MAKE YOU RICH - And, if you so choose, we welcome you to be a part of the Greatest Nation anywhere in the World, the United States of America!" the US leader wrote.

Greenland is part of Denmark as an autonomous territory. In 1951, Washington and Copenhagen signed the Greenland Defense Treaty, agreeing that the US will defend the island from external aggression. The island hosts a US base, Pituffik Space Base, which plays a role in the missile warning system and surveillance of the Arctic region.
