Bracewell's rescue act helps New Zealand post 251 as India spinners dominate
India, unbeaten in the tournament, will look to maintain their form and claim another ICC title, needing 252 runs to win.

India's spinners put in a disciplined performance to restrict New Zealand to 251 runs in the first innings of the ICC Champions Trophy final at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on 9 March. Despite a late surge by Michael Bracewell, who remained unbeaten on 53 off 40 balls, New Zealand set a modest target of 252 for India to chase.
The match began with New Zealand winning the toss and opting to bat first. Openers Rachin Ravindra and Will Young got the Kiwis off to a steady start, but Young fell early for 15. Ravindra showed promise with a quickfire 37 from 29 balls before he too was dismissed, leaving New Zealand at a delicate stage.
Kane Williamson, shouldering the responsibility, could not find his rhythm and managed only 11 runs from 14 deliveries. With three wickets down, Daryl Mitchell anchored the innings, scoring a patient 63 off 101 balls. However, it was Bracewell's late aggression that gave New Zealand a fighting chance in the final.
India's bowlers maintained control throughout the innings. Spinners Kuldeep Yadav and Varun Chakaravarthy led the attack, taking two wickets each. Mohammed Shami and Ravindra Jadeja also chipped in with a wicket apiece.
