Victims' neighbours Kulsum Begum and her son Jihan said the gas leakage from the pipeline caused an explosion when they were lighting the stove for preparing Sehri, leaving them burnt.

House owner Zakir Hossain said the injured victims were taken to the 250-bed general hospital immediately.

Dr Hasan Faisal Hossain, a physician at the emergency department of the hospital, said four critically injured victims were referred to Dhaka as their condition was critical.

A team from Chandpur Fire Service and Civil Defense went to the scene to investigate the cause of the fire.
