Travel embargo imposed on ex-RCC mayor Liton, family
A court here today imposed a travel ban on former Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) mayor AHM Khairuzzaman Liton, his wife Shahin Akter, and daughters Anika Fariha Zaman and Maisa Samiha Zaman over graft allegations.
Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Zakir Hossain Galib passed the order, accepting a plea filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) deputy director Mozammil Hossain.
The ACC, in its plea, said the anti-graft body is probing allegations against Liton and eight former lawmakers from Rajshahi for amassing an illegal wealth of Taka 6,000 crore. During the investigation, the ACC found evidence of wealth beyond known sources of income against Liton and his family members.

The commission said the former mayor and his family members are trying to hand over and transfer their movable and immovable properties, and a travel ban should be imposed on them to deter them from leaving the country.
