Police arrest three with foreign pistol, ammunition, drugs in Ctg
Police said the arrestees are accused in multiple cases, including charges of robbery, possession of illegal weapons, and drug-related offenses

Police arrested three alleged members of a terrorist gang from the Bostami area of Chattogram last evening (2 March) in an operation.
The arrestees include Mohammad Millat, 24, an associate of top criminal Mizan, said Aminul Islam, deputy commissioner of Chattogram Metropolitan Police's North Division, at a press conference held at Chattogram Police Lines Media Center this afternoon (3 March).
The other two arrestees are Mohammad Abul Hasnat Fahim, 20, and Md Rubel, 26.
During the operation, police also recovered foreign pistols, ammunition, locally made weapons, and drugs from their possession, Aminul said.
Police said the arrestees are accused in multiple cases, including charges of robbery, possession of illegal weapons, and drug-related offenses.
Detailing the police operation, Aminul said on Sunday, at around 4:30 pm, police received a tip-off that members of Mizan's gang, including Millat, were gathering near an abandoned building beside Wazedia Madrasa in Bayezid Bostami to assert dominance in the area.
"Acting on this information, a special police team was formed, which successfully raided the location and arrested three criminals. Law enforcement seized two foreign-made pistols, pistol magazines, nine rounds of bullets, a machete, a knife, a power bank, five mobile phones, and 110 yaba tablets from their possession," he added.
Aminul Islam also revealed that Mizan's gang has been in an ongoing dispute with Sajjad's group over territorial control, which often results in violent clashes.
In response to journalists' inquiries about whether Mizan and Sajjad operate under the protection of political figures, the police official stated that investigations are ongoing to determine if they have political backing.
He emphasised that, in the eyes of law enforcement, criminals are simply criminals, regardless of any political affiliations. If concrete evidence emerges linking them to political protection, strict legal actions will be taken against those involved.
Meanwhile, separate cases have been filed against the three arrested individuals under the Arms Act and Narcotics Act at the Bayezid Bostami Police Station.
Authorities have assured that further investigations are underway to track down other members of these criminal networks.
