Satkhira youth arrested on charges of raping speech-impaired girl

Police yesterday (12 March) arrested a 21-year-old young man for allegedly raping a speech-impaired girl in Satkhira.
The incident took place in Gopinathpur upazila yesterday morning, Satkhira Police Superintendent Moniurl Islam confirmed to The Business Standard.
The arrestee has been identified as Ibrahim Gazi, son of the late Shohor Ali, a resident of Gopinathpur village.
"A case has been filed against him under the Women and Children Abuse Prevention Act with the Kalaroa Police Station. He is the only accused in the case," said Monirul.
Meanwhile, police received a complaint of an attempted rape of a child in Patkelghata upazila of Satkhira.
The process of filing a case with the Patkelghata Police Station was underway over the allegations, said the police superintendent.
