Corruption case filed against Dhaka north ex-councilor Akash, his wife
The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) today (3 March) lodged two separate corruption cases against former councilor of Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Akash Kumar Bhowmik and his wife Popy Rani Bhowmik for acquiring illegal wealth beyond their know source of income.
ACC Director General (DG) Prevention Md Akhter Hossain at a briefing at its headquarters told journalists that Deputy Director of the headquarters Md Ahsanul Kabir Polash filed the case.
According to the allegation, former councilor of ward number 59 of the DSCC Akash Kumar Bhowmik possessed illegal wealth worth about Tk14 crore that is beyond his known source of income.
Besides, his wife Popy Rani Bhowmik also amassed and possessed illegal wealth worth about Tk4 crore that is contrary to her known source of income.
The ACC lodged two separate cases against the couple under Section 27(1) of the Anti-Corruption Commission Act-2004.
