Two killed as bus hits pickup truck in Ctg

A pickup truck driver and his assistant were killed after a bus crashed into their vehicle on Dhaka-Chattogram Highway in Mirsarai early in the morning (24 February).
The accident occurred around 5am in the Sonapahar area on the highway's Dhaka-bound lane.
The deceased pickup truck driver has been identified as Osman Gani (50), a resident of Chattogram's Bakshirhat area. The identity of his assistant could not be known immediately.
According to Jorarganj Highway Police, a pickup truck carrying fish was parked on the roadside when a Dhaka-bound Saint Martin Paribahan bus struck a moving pickup from behind, forcing it into the parked vehicle.
Both Osman Gani and his assistant suffered critical injuries in the accident. Locals rushed them to Mirsarai Upazila Health Complex, where the on-duty doctor declared Osman Gani dead.
Sub-Inspector (SI) Borhan Uddin of Jorarganj Highway Police Outpost confirmed the incident, stating that Osman Gani succumbed to his injuries on the way to the hospital, while his assistant later died while undergoing treatment in Chattogram.
He said that a case is being processed regarding the accident.
