The condition of Jatiya Party Chairman HM Ershad, now undergoing treatment at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) here, remained unchanged, said his brother GM Quader on Monday.

"Infections in his lungs have eased but infections in kidneys have increased. His overall condition remains unchanged," he told UNB.

Asked whether he will be put on life support, GM Quader said Ershad is not in such a bad condition for which he needs life support.

Ershad was given oxygen support as his health condition deteriorated again on Sunday.

Briefing reporters at Jatiya Party Chairman's Banani office on Sunday evening, Quader, also the party acting chairman, said his brother was given oxygen support due to respiratory problem.

He also said their chairman has also been given treatment for infections in different organs of his body.

On Saturday, Quader said his brother's condition improved by 50 percent in the last three days.

Ershad, a former military ruler, was admitted to the CMH on Wednesday morning as his condition deteriorated.

The 89-year-old former military ruler has been suffering from various old age complications, including low haemoglobin and liver problem, high bilirubin and serious knee pain.

He became inactive in politics and was hardly seen in any programme since mid-November last due to his illness.

Ershad received treatment aboard and at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) here at different times over the last eight months.
