A member of an alleged fraud ring was arrested for attempting to take a proxy exam on behalf of a candidate during the written test for the Motor Transport (MT) Operator position at Biman Bangladesh Airlines.

The incident took place today (22 February), at the Civil Aviation School and College centre in Dhaka's Kurmitola, reads a press release.

According to Biman, the arrestee Mehdi Hasan, 28, was taking the proxy exam for candidate Riad Uddin Nahid.

Kazi Rajib Hossain, assistant manager of Biman and the centre invigilator, detained him after noticing a mismatch of the examinee's face and the admit card.

During questioning, Mehdi confessed that he was taking the proxy exam on behalf of the candidate.

Later, the airport police arrived and arrested Mehdi in a case filed in this connection.

Biman authorities said they suspect a fraud ring is involved in illegal recruitment trading in various positions of the company, and that the arrested individual is an active member of the ring.
