Mother killed in Banshkhali: RAB arrests son and wife

RAB has arrested a son and his wife on charges of murdering his mother by slitting her throat in Banshkhali, Chattogram.
They were arrested from Lakhyarchar union under Chakaria Police Station at around 5 pm last Wednesday in a joint operation by RAB-7 and RAB-15.
The arrested are: Md. Kashem (28), son of the deceased Rehena Begum (60), and his wife Nargis Akhter (25). They are residents of Purba Bailchhari village.

In a press release yesterday, RAB said that the elder son of the deceased, Belal, used to send money from abroad for his mother's medications. But his younger brother, Kashem, used to spend it on himself.
Due to this long-standing dispute in the family, on the night of June 5 of last year, Kashem, along with his wife Nargish slit Rehana Begum's throat with a sharp knife and hid the bloodstained clothes in a corner of the house. The deceased's elder brother filed a case with Banshkhali Police Station in this incident.
RAB-7 said that the accused were hiding in different areas to avoid arrest. Based on secret information, a joint operation was conducted after identifying their location. The arrested have been handed over to Banshkhali Police Station.
