A total of 46 leaders and activists of the Awami League, its youth wing Jubo League, and its student wing Chhatra League have been arrested from various areas of Chattogram city in the last 24 hours from yesterday afternoon to this afternoon (4 February).

The Public Relations and Media Wing of Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) confirmed the arrests through a press statement issued this evening. 

The CMP said they conducted a special operation to apprehend individuals accused in cases related to attacks on protesters during the student-led mass uprising.

The CMP also said multiple cases have been filed against the arrestees, including charges under the Special Powers Act and the Anti-Terrorism Act. 

42 activists of AL, Jubo League, Chhatra League nabbed in Ctg in 24-hour

This is the second day of such arrests made by the CMP. From 2 February evening to yesterday evening, a total of 42 leaders and activists of Awami League, Jubo League and Chhatra League were arrested and detained from across Chattogram city.

Law enforcement officials stated that investigations are ongoing, and further arrests may follow. 

Here are the arrestees as stated in the press statement today:

Kotwali Model Police Station arrested central Awami League's Sub-Committee Member on Religious Affairs Md Salamat Ali Chowdhury, 70, along with Alamgir Mia, 32, and Md Alauddin, 38, both Joint General Secretaries of Sheikh Russel Smriti Sangsad in Kotwali. Others arrested from this station include Sabbir Hossain Mondal, 46, Arfan Uddin, 33, Rahim Uddin Rajib, 27, Md Sajjad Hossain Riyaz, 27, Muhammad Arif Sikdar, also known as Munna, 33, and Md Roni, 39.

Bandar Police Station arrested Md Shamim, 28. Pahartali Police Station arrested Md Shahjahan, also known as Saju, 40, along with Md Zakir Hossain, 22, and Md Sharif Uddin, 22. 

Karnaphuli Police Station arrested Md Nurul Islam, 56, president of Ward-5, Shikalbaha Union Awami League, and Md Nurul Alam, 55, vice president of Ward-8, Char Lakshya Union Awami League.

Double Mooring Model Police Station arrested Abu Ahammed, 57, and Md Asifur Rahman, 38. Akbarshah Police Station arrested Abdul Malek Soudagar, 55, Mahfuzur Rahman, also known as Sujon, 27, Miraz Uddin, also known as Robin, 24, Md Parvez, 27, Muntasir Absar, also known as Rifat, 23, Md Nurul Zaman, 23, and Md Ibne Mizan, also known as Rubel, 45.

Chawk Bazar Police Station arrested Tuhin Murad, 32, while EPZ Police Station arrested Md Jahidul Islam, 38. Sadarghat Police Station arrested Md Ishtiaq Munna, 35, and Md Ilyas, 51. 

Bayezid Bostami Police Station arrested Md Abdul Momin Anjum, 27, Md Abdul Ali, also known as Kalu, and Md Wahid, 27. Panchlaish Model Police Station arrested Md Mozammel Tarek, 24, and Syed Nizamul Haque, 28.

Bakalia Police Station arrested Alhaj Md Golam Nabi, 55, Md Anisul Islam, also known as Soumik, 31, Md Mahim, 19, Md Arif Hossain, 24, and Md Shahidul Islam, also known as Shawon, 24. 

Patenga Model Police Station arrested Md Ali Azgar, 40, and Mahmudul Haque, 50. Chandgaon Police Station arrested Md Arif, 20, Md Suman, 30, Touhidul Islam, 32, and SM Selim Uddin, 54. Khulshi Police Station arrested Md Monir, 36, and Md Sani, 29.
