7 govt colleges to conduct admission tests under own framework

The undergraduate (honours) first-year admission test for the seven government colleges, which were removed from the affiliation of Dhaka University, will now be conducted within their own framework for the 2024-25 academic session, according to the affiliated colleges' admission website.

The website states that, as part of the initial step for the separation of the seven government colleges in Dhaka, the ongoing application process for admission to undergraduate programmes in various disciplines for the 2024-25 academic year has been temporarily suspended.

It states that the admission application process for these colleges will be conducted on the websites of their respective frameworks.

It further notes that the data of students who have applied through this website, along with the admission fees submitted for the entrance test (totalling 33,101 applications), will be provided to the organisers of the new admission tests.

Additionally, those who had applied for these undergraduate programmes under Dhaka University but are no longer interested in taking the admission test under the new framework will receive a refund of their admission fees at a later stage. According to the website, Dhaka University will handle the refund process.

According to the website, admission applications for specialised colleges in "engineering and technology" and "home economics" are currently ongoing.

The process for receiving applications for undergraduate (honours) first-year admissions for the seven colleges under Dhaka University was suspended by the university authorities in a meeting yesterday (29 January).

Applications for admission to the undergraduate programme (honours) for the 2024-25 academic year at the seven colleges began on 6 January and were set to continue until 12 February. The admission test was scheduled for April.

The seven colleges are Dhaka College, Eden Mohila College, Begum Badrunnesa Govt Girls' College, Govt Titumir College, Kabi Nazrul Govt College, Govt Shaheed Suhrawardy College, and Govt Bangla College. These colleges were affiliated with Dhaka University on 17 February 2017.

These colleges collectively have about 200,000 students, with over 1,000 teachers, and admit around 21,500 students each session.
