Court rejects bail of DU Prof Jamal Uddin in Anti-Terrorism case

A Dhaka court has rejected the bail petition of Abul Kashem Mohammad Jamal Uddin, a sociology professor at the University of Dhaka, in a case filed under the Anti-Terrorism Act at Paltan Police Station.
Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Jashita Islam passed the order today (12 March), confirmed defence lawyer Golam Rabbani.
Yesterday morning, police arrested him from the Gulistan Stadium area when he came to attend a march organised by the Awami League and later produced him before a court.
During the hearing, several lawyers, including Advocate Khayer Uddin Shikdar and Golam Rabbani, argued in favor of Jamal Uddin's bail, while State Prosecutor Muhammad Shamsuddoha Sumon opposed the bail petition.
After hearing arguments from both sides, the court rejected the bail application.
