The government today (28 January) approved separate proposals for procuring fertiliser and diesel to address domestic demands and stabilise markets.

The approvals came from the 5th meeting of the Advisers Council Committee on Government Purchase (ACCGP) held at the Cabinet Division conference room at Bangladesh Secretariat.

Adviser to the Ministry of Finance Dr Salehuddin Ahmed chaired the meeting.

Following a proposal from the Ministry of Agriculture, the Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation (BADC) would procure 30,000 tonnes of TSP fertiliser under state-level agreement from OCP NUTRICROPS, Morocco with around Tk161.04 crore where per tonne fertiliser would cost $440.

In response to a proposal from the Energy and Mineral Resources Division, Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC) will import 130,000 tonnes of diesel from India.

Indian Numaligarh Refinery Limited will supply the bulk diesel at a cost of Tk1,137.96 crore.
