The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) has issued arrest warrants for eight individuals, including six police officers and two Awami League leaders, in connection with the July-August genocide case.
Chief Prosecutor Md Tajul Islam made the announcement at a briefing held at the tribunal today (27 January).
"Six of them are police officers, and the remaining two are influential Awami League leaders. The investigation agency has found their direct involvement in the sensational murders that occurred in Dhaka city during that period," Tajul said.
He said the tribunal has not publicly disclosed their names to prevent the accused from fleeing.
Special adviser to the chief prosecutor, Toby Cadman, was also present at the briefing.
