71 Bangladeshis among 176 illegal immigrants held in Malaysia
Kuala Lumpur Immigration Department (JIM) detained 176 illegal immigrants in Malaysia's Jalan Alor in Bukit Bintang, including 71 Bangladeshi nationals.
According to Kuala Lumpur JIM Director Wan Mohammed Saupee Wan Yusoff, the operation began at 7:15pm yesterday (22 January), in collaboration with Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL), reports Bermana.
The operation was launched in response to public complaints and subsequent investigations.

The detainees also included 60 individuals from Myanmar, 24 from Indonesia, 16 from Nepal, three from Pakistan, and one each from Egypt and Sudan.
"The case is being investigated under Section 6(1)(c) and Section 15(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63, as well as Regulation 39(b) of the Immigration Regulations 1963, which cover the offences of lacking valid documents and overstaying in the country," Wan Mohammed Saupee said.
All detainees were transported to the Kuala Lumpur Immigration Headquarters for documentation and further legal action.
The operation involved 61 JIM officers and personnel, supported by 30 DBKL officers.
