Gazipur teacher held over alleged child rape

Anowar Hossain, an assistant teacher of Adarsha Shishu Kanon Kindergarten in Gazipur, has been arrested over alleged rape of a 6-year schoolgirl.

He has been held after the mother of the child filed a case against him with Gacha Police Station in the district on Thursday, confirmed Officer-in-Charge (OC) Ismail Hossain.

Describing the incident, OC Ismail said accused Anowar, 22, on Saturday morning last week called the little girl to the teachers’ room and raped her there.

When the girl informed one of her female teachers about the incident, she told her (the girl) not to tell anyone about it and sent her home.

The traumatised little girl followed what her teacher said. But as bleeding continued, her parents took her to the hospital, suspecting that she might have Dengue. At one point, the girl told her mother about the incident, the OC said.

Later, the girl was later sent to Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College for medical test.
