BADC and Banyan sign agreement for DAP fertilizer import

In a significant move to ensure the continued balanced supply of non-urea fertilizers to farmers, Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation (BADC), under the supervision of the Ministry of Agriculture, has taken proactive steps. As part of these efforts, BADC signed an agreement with Banyan International Training Ltd, a Chinese company, to import 440,000 metric tons of high-quality Di-Ammonium Phosphate (DAP) fertilizer for the year 2025.
The agreement was signed on January 10, 2025, in Fuzhou, the capital of Fujian Province, China. Md. Ruhul Amin Khan, Chairman (Grade-1) of BADC, and Li Jin, General Manager of Banyan Group, signed the deal. The ceremony was attended by Dr. Mohammad Emdad Ullah Mian, Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, along with other relevant officials.
Thanks to the successful negotiations, the price of each ton of fertilizer has been reduced by $2 compared to the previous rate, resulting in an estimated savings of approximately 11 crore Bangladeshi Taka for the government.
