Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) Director Monjurul Islam has addressed the ongoing payment crisis affecting the players of Durbar Rajshahi, assuring that steps are being taken to resolve the matter promptly.

Speaking on behalf of the BCB President, Monjurul expressed optimism about achieving a resolution and provided updates on the progress made so far.

An urgent board meeting was convened by the BCB President to discuss the issue. Monjurul, who attended the meeting in person, remarked: "The President has been personally engaging with team officials, owners, and players to negotiate a solution. We are optimistic about reaching a favourable outcome by tomorrow."

He revealed that the President has already held discussions with Durbar Rajshahi's captain and other key individuals. "The President has spoken with the captain and a few others, and I believe these conversations have brought us closer to a resolution," Monjurul stated.

The issue arose due to Durbar Rajshahi's owners failing to fulfil their financial obligations to the players. The BCB President has intervened to mediate and take charge of the situation. Monjurul confirmed that the team owners are scheduled to meet with the President tomorrow, and the remaining issues are expected to be resolved during this meeting. "It can almost be said that a resolution has been reached. Once the owners meet the President, the remaining matters will likely be sorted," he explained.

Despite the challenges, Monjurul highlighted the positive outlook among stakeholders. "The players are somewhat reassured about receiving their payments. They are even expected to attend training tomorrow," he said, adding that this reflects the progress being made.

The BCB President has assumed direct responsibility for ensuring the payments are made. "The President has personally taken this matter under his authority. Once the resolution is finalised, he will provide a detailed briefing," Monjurul confirmed.

He also dismissed concerns about potential match boycotts, stating: "We have not observed any negative attitudes, such as talk of boycotting matches, from the players."

While acknowledging that the situation is less than ideal, Monjurul reiterated the board's commitment to resolving the matter. "Admittedly, it is a bit embarrassing. However, the President has been making consistent efforts to address the payment issues for Durbar Rajshahi players. From the beginning until now, he has been actively working on this," he remarked.

The cricketing community now awaits tomorrow's meeting between the team owners and the BCB President, which is expected to bring much-needed clarity and closure to the ongoing payment crisis.
