James Anderson set for a T20 comeback with Lancashire after a decade
Since his farewell Test match against the West Indies in July, Anderson has taken a break from competitive cricket.

England's legendary fast bowler James Anderson is set to continue his illustrious cricketing career, having signed a one-year contract extension with Lancashire. The 41-year-old pacer is preparing for a remarkable return to T20 cricket, poised to play his first match in the shortest format in over a decade.
Since his farewell Test match against the West Indies in July, Anderson has taken a break from competitive cricket, stepping into an advisory role with England's backroom staff. Despite entering the IPL auction in December, he went unsold. With his ECB central contract now expired, Anderson has decided to prolong his playing career, signing with Lancashire for the County Championship and the T20 Blast.
Excited for the Next Chapter
In a statement, Anderson expressed his enthusiasm for returning to professional cricket:
"I'm thrilled to sign this contract with Lancashire and get back to playing professional cricket next season. This club has played a huge role in my life since I was a teenager, and the opportunity to wear the Red Rose again and contribute in both red-ball and white-ball cricket is something I am genuinely looking forward to."
He revealed he has been diligently maintaining his fitness and regularly bowling during his time with England's coaching staff over the winter. Anderson aims to be in peak condition for the start of the County Championship in April.
"I love playing at Emirates Old Trafford, and getting the chance to bowl in front of our members and supporters this summer will be truly special," he added.
Coaching Role with England
Anderson is currently in Abu Dhabi, working with England's pace bowlers ahead of their limited-overs series in India. Speaking on the Tailenders Podcast, he confirmed his role in England's coaching setup for the ICC Champions Trophy, which will take place in Pakistan next month.
