ULAB English Department holds orientation

The Department of English and Humanities at the University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh organized an Online Orientation for freshers of the Summer 2020 term on 9 July, 2020, Thursday.

Nasima Haider, former Ambassador and Secretary to the Government of Bangladesh, was the Chief Guest and Orientation Speaker. In her speech, she said that the students must stay optimistic as they embark on the long journey of higher education. She emphasized on the importance of maintaining a positive outlook during the pandemic and remember that sustainable solutions can emerge from crises.

In his opening remarks, School of Arts and Humanities Dean Professor Kaiser Haq said the new generation of students must ascend above the challenges of the ongoing pandemic and make their time productive through online learning and virtual co-curricular activities.

In his speech, ULAB Vice Chancellor Dr. H M Jahirul Haque focused on the advantages of online learning and urged the new students to engage in different virtual activities and events organized frequently at the university.

ULAB Pro-Vice Chancellor and Head of the Department of English and Humanities, Professor ShamsadMortuza welcomed the students to the department and introduced them to its faculty members and the various activities on offer.

ULAB's Professor Syed Manzoorul Islam highlighted the facilities of the university's Permanent Campus and expressed hopes that there will be a return to normalcy soon and face-to-face classes will resume. The Head of General Education Department, Professor Shahnaj Husne Jahan, introduced GED courses to the students and emphasized the importance of liberal arts for creating global citizens.

A short cultural program was presented by the members of the ULAB Literary Society, Paper Canoe, which was enjoyed by the faculty members and students who were present at the event.
